A fundamental aspect of the facility was to address its relationship with the community with the requirement of becoming more ‘open and outward facing’. The Visitor and Staff Facilities area helps transform the Police Headquarters by providing contemporary accommodation with an outward-facing vision of openness and transparency, using swathes of glass nestled within the local vernacular stone façade. The wide expanses of specialist glass and multiple lightwells wash the building in natural light. 另外, local vernacular materials were implemented within the external envelope of the facility to ensure the building integrates well within the surrounding urban context.
